We just made arrangements to purchase this late 1700’s to early 1800’s wooden gear clock to add to my early Black Forest clock collection. The clock was inspected and appraised by none other than Berthold Schaaf.
Here is the description of the clock: Original wooden wheel clock around 1790/1810. The movement is executed with anchor gear and seconds pendulum, the seconds are displayed on a sub-dial under the XII. In the arc of the dial is the date display with the division for 31 days, which is controlled by lever from the hour wheel.
As a further complication, the clock is equipped with a Surrerschlagwerk with quarter-hour and hour strike on two bells.
