Black Forest 1800's Blackbird Flute "Flötenuhr" clock
Recently acquired is this ultra rare Black Forest Blackbird flute clock from the 1800’s. This clock plays six wonderful tunes on eighteen pipes as the black bird moves from side to side while moving his beak up and down to the tune. I only quote the term ultra rare as a very good friend of mine who has the largest Black Forest clock collection in the USA conveyed these words to me when I told him about the clock. He told me that these clocks are ultra rare and only a few are

Early wood plate movement cuckoo clock with painting on tin
This newly acquired wood plate movement cuckoo clock with a very nice painting of a woman and her hand maiden by a stream has just been added to my Black Forest clock collection. The painting which is in absolutely fabulous shape given that the clock was produced in the 1800’s is painted on a tin metal sheet. The painting and the cuckoo’s door is all under a glass frame which is unique and is why the painting has maintained it brilliance. Additional photos can be found under

Black Forest Beha 509 cuckoo clock with its extremely rare Beha shelf
This is a recently acquired Beha 509 which is one of the small case shelf clocks that Beha produced . As you can see in the photo it has a very nicely detailed carved case and trim. This is a very early example of a Beha 509 that maintains all its original bone hands and patina. The clock was sold by Kamerer, Kuss & Co. who were the premier distributors of Beha clocks in England. The clock still maintains it original Kamerer, Kuss & Co. label on the back of the case which is

Very Special Beha Clock !!
Circa 1878 J B Beha 8 day going cuckoo clock with music box operating on hourly strike. Pencil marked information on the pine back board suggests it could have been allocated the catalogue number of 548, but this is an unconfirmed assumption. The clock is over 28 inches tall and therefore one of the largest table/ bracket clocks manufactured by the factory. The case is veneered in burr walnut and is adorned with carved walnut friezes which seem armorial/ heraldic in the case

Wonderful Black Forest 15 Pipe Flute Clock circa 1820
This is a excellent example of a Black Forest Shield clock that plays 6 songs on a bank of 15 flute pipes. The clock is estimated to have been manufactured around circa 1820 and is operated by three weights, two being rope driven that drive the music portion of the clock and the strike. The third is a chain drive that drives the time side of the movement. Both of the rope drives have a counter balance weight, as without the counterbalance weight the rope would slip through th

Black Forest Wehrle Flute Clock 1866
Here is a fine example of a Wehrle 8 pipe flute clock that can be seen on the Video Page on this website that will take you to my YouTube Channel. The clock plays two tunes on eight wooden pipes. The songs are selectable by a push and pull selector knob that is found on the front chapter ring. #blackforestfluteclock #blackforestclock #blackforest
Wehrle four horn Trumpeter clock
Here is a video of a fantastic playing four horn Wehrle trumpeter clock. This clock is a totally original example which is a very rare find due to the age of the clock. Very often with clocks of this age they have had multiple repairs. As these clocks are very heavy and large it attributes to them being easily damaged. It is quite the chore mounting these clocks to the wall and finding a suitable anchor or wall stud to secure them. #blackforestfluteclock #blackforestclock #bl
